A few French magazine scans

HI there everyone,

Before seriously hitting it off on Saturday night for the epic second evening of the Stade de France gigs in Paris, I thought I’d post a couple of scans from various articles that have been printed in two French magazines.
These are provided by our fantastic maggieland and will hopefully get a full translation down the line. Now’s the time to work on that French!

The first is from Rock & Folk; it’s a 10-year retrospective of their career from Devon to filling stadiums.

The second is from Guitare Extreme with an article entitled “Matthew Bellamy: Guitar Hero of the 21st Century”.

Matt & Kate Hudson?

From OK Magazine:

Looks like Kate Hudson’s sporty phase is over (sorry A-Rod) – the star’s taste for rockers has overwhelmed her once again. Putting baseballer ex Rodriguez firmly behind her, Kate stepped out for an early dinner with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy at Tortilla Flats in New York last week. The cosy-looking pair were deep in conversation as they made their way into the Mexican restaurant, while the actress took some time out from filming her new flick “Something Borrowed”. Of course the 31 year old British musician, who was once dubbed music’s sexiest male, isn’t the first rocker to catch Kate’s eye. The bubbly blonde was previously married to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, the father of her six year old son, Ryder. And Kate, 31, readily admits she’s never been attracted to straight faced types. “We were never afraid to bring the wrong person home”, says the star, who famously made her big screen breakthrough as rock groupie in “Almost Famous” ten years ago. “And no matter how many times my heart breaks I’ll never be any different,” she adds. Indeed, Kate makes no secret about the fact she doesn’t like flying solo, confessing, “I love being in love”. And she reveals she’s found the secret to keeping her man happy. “I love boys but I believe they’re really simple”, Kate says. “What does that Dr. Laura say? Something like all men want sex and for you to make them a sandwich. I thought that was really funny – and not entirely untrue.” But while Matthew may have rock and rolled his way into Kate’s heart, he has yet to pass the ultimate test – meeting Ryder. At least they have something in common – music. “He’s really into hard rock”, she says about her son.

This comes after Matt revealed the latest single Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever) is about his ex-girlfriend.

The English trio is publishing a surprising fifth album and meets the Italian press in Milano on a warm sunny day. Barely out « The Resistance » is probably the best disc published by Matthew Bellamy’s band.

Matt Bellamy Muse talks about Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix

The world’s most innovative guitarist died in mysterious circumstances in London on September18, 1970 — 39 years on, today’s heroes still kneel before him.

Matt Bellamy, Muse:

“I first got really excited by guitars when I was about 12. At the time, I wasn’t really into heavy music at all. I was into the sort of stuff my dad plays – Dick Dale-type stuff. But then I saw a video of Jimi Hendrix performing his famous 1967 Monterey Pop Festival set. Read more

With their blend of prog-rock and fist-raising anthems, British band Muse have been filling stadiums for years in Europe. With the release of The Resistance, their fifth, and most challenging and versatile record to date, the band has taken the top spot in the Canadian charts and finally cracked the North American market.

Brad Frenette spoke to Muse’s lead singer, Matthew Bellamy, on the phone from Washington between stops on the U2 360° tour, to discuss the new record, film scores and how to write a song for 50,000 screaming fans.

Q: How has the U2 opening slot been for you guys?

A: It’s good fun. It’s been great seeing them play. They are probably he best live rock band out there.

Matt Bellamy in ‘Rolling Stone’ Magazine

Rolling Stone

Matt Bellamy looks at it this way: “It’s a grounding experience,” the singer-guitarist- pianist says a few days before his band, the British trio Muse, starts a three-week run opening stadium shows for U2. “It reminds you you’re doing well, but not quite as well as them,” he adds, laughing, on the phone from his home near Lake Como, in northern Italy.
