Muse celebrate being first band on NME Radio

Matt Bellamy hopes the Martians will enjoy ‘Knights Of Cydonia’ too

Muse’s Matt Bellamy has hailed NME.COM users for picking ‘Knights Of Cydonia’ as the first song to be played on NME Radio when the station launched this morning (June 24).

Following a an online poll which saw 3.5 million fans of acts like The Killers, Oasis, The Strokes and more all voting, Muse were the first band to be played at 11am this morning.

Speaking after learning the news Bellamy declared: “Cheers, thanks a lot to all the voters. Nice to know that shortly after the song finished on Earth, the galloping horses and laser beams would have reached Cydonia at the speed of light. Good new station, will be listening.”

To tune in simply head to Sky Channel 0184, Virgin Media Channel 975 or listen via NME.COM/Radio, where you will also find NME Radio’s schedule, information about the DJs plus details of how you can get involved with requests and more.

The station will be taking requests between 1-2pm (BST) on weekdays, so send in your selections and why you want to hear them to studio@nmeradio.co.uk now.

A leak from Microsoft shows that Muse will again appear on Guitar Hero:

Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, Interpol, Muse “and dozens more”.

Muse have been nominated for MTV Asia Awards’ (Which will be held in Malaysia this year, More info here. They have been nominated for the ‘Bring Da House Down’ (Best Live Act) award.

Quichote has just uploaded a compilation DVD called “The Supermassive Tour Vol 0″

If I am correct our very own wowy28 created this set of DVD’s. I haven’t downloaded the set so I can not comment on the quality of the files, I am sure wowy done a good job though!

Muse played the legendary Rock in Rio Festival on the 6th June. Rock in Rio takes place in the lovely Lisbon, Portugal.

Unusally Muse did not headline the festival, they just played a slot. They managed to squeeze in 12 tracks, most suprisingly Muse played part of Nishe. We haven’t seen that in the setlist since the year 2000. Matt had a few on stage troubles, one his guitar strap broke from the point of leaving the piano in New Born. Also there was a new solo played on Supermassive Black Hole as there was an issue with the Kaoss Pad.
